This calculator is designed to determine which unit — or combination of units — you need to meet your peak load. In LED-based cultivation, this peak typically corresponds to the maximum dehumidification capacity required within a single cycle.

Because the dehumidification load is low at the start of a cycle — when the plants are still small — a system is easily oversized if it is dimensioned around peak capacity alone. For this reason, we always recommend assessing what is actually required and then distributing that capacity across several smaller units. This allows you to bring additional units online as the cycle progresses and the load increases.

This approach offers two key advantages. First, it prevents “short cycling” — the rapid on/off switching of the compressor that occurs when a unit is oversized for the current load. Second, it builds redundancy into your setup, so that capacity remains available should one unit experience an issue.
